Amare is a beach club for local people and visitors, with a focus on environmental, economic and social regeneration of the island of Tierra Bomba in Colombia.
We proposed a modest intervention between the existing traditional structures. We aimed to respect the site and connect with the existing stunning nature using organic forms and
natural and local materials.
Most part of the furniture is second hand. It is
solar powered and off grid. The project relies entirely on solar power, with a small diesel generator if there are too many cloudy days.
70% of grey and black
water is recycled with plants while 90% of their waste is
recycled or
transformed into compost and 90% of waste is diverted from landfill.
Amare is legally registered as a B.I.C company, which stands for Benefits & Interests of the Collective.
They are legally obliged to consider the environmental and social impact of everything they do. Their Board of Directors includes an Environmental Advisor and a Social Representative from the neighbouring community. They operate according to the B-Corp framework.
Amare is a safe space for everyone. They look out for dedicated LGBTQI+ events and it's currently 90% female-BIPOC funded, by
Manzana Azul.
At The Good Thing we are very proud to be part of this regenerative and inclusive project.
